Sunsets a cliché?! What's next, Kloe -- dissing my man Bob Ross?
While we're on the subject of clichés, though, do you happen to know if any painter (other than maybe Bob Ross) has ever intentionally tried to put as many clichés as possible into a single painting, just to see how many would fit? Or if there's a painting equivalent to the Faux Faulkner contest?
Thanks you guys, for making me laugh, after a long day of sunning and swimming and chasing sea gulls... Bob Ross is big on Turkish t.v. My friend who works at TRT is trying to produce a documentary equivalent of B.R. with Turkish painters. But what is really surprising is that the guy is also popular in Germany (his brushes are prominent in art stores) when some of the hottest contemporary painters are German. Let's see, Tim, painters who use cliche: John Currin is good, Komar and Melamid polled the public to see what it wanted in a painting (a lake and mountains, if I remember correctly)... but no cliche contest. We painters shun contests...
As you can see, I'm a bit of a Western Girl. Love the desert. Into animals. Big hair, small clothes. I go to the gym religiously. Artist, feminist, teacher, mama.
From August 2006 to July 2007 I lived and worked in Turkey. So check the archives if you want to know what it's like there.
Now I'm back in the fastlane in SoCal. Sending you all kisses...

Tim, how is it not a cliché? Sunsets have lost their originality.
Btw, Kloe rules, Bob Ross sucks.
