…
I am trying to process what has happened, so I can see the bigger picture. I will write about the specifics later. But for now I can tell you I have lost my best teaching job.
It is a new experience for me to lose a job like this. It has profoundly upset and angered me. Now I understand what many people have gone through, how depressed they feel, how out of control… to be told, “it’s not fair, but we can’t do anything about it.”
If I ever have employees, I will remember this experience, and take care of those who work hard for me.

I am so sorry to read this. It's a shitty time for both teacher and artists. I hope that you find something else to pay the rent and come out OK through this ordeal.

Hi Namaste, What a great name... Yeah, I'm trying to get a grip and see it as an opportunity. It's always hard for artists, but it shouldn't be that way for teachers.
Thanks for your thoughts.
and M, am not mad, am also thinking of you. K
I started reading your blog when you lived in Turkey. I lived there as a child (Dad was in the Navy), have been back a few times and am fascinated by the place. One of my dreams would be to live in Istambul but I know that's not really possible so I can live vicariously through those who have. You getting fired totally sucks! I recently retired from UCSF (lower level worker-bee jobs) and somehow managed NOT to get fired, although I was on the verge of it many times over. I did get laid off in some very dicy circumstances but managed to get back into the system - the benefits are good and even through I'm a painter, I tried to make a living at it. I don't think that real artists fit into the world well in the best of times and these sure ain't the best of times. All the best and I'll be following your adventures as you triumph over Evil!Capitalist!Pigs!
Can't type either - that sentence should read "Never tried to make a living at it."
