Turkey's First Mosque Designed by a Woman
I heard about this on the radio and just had to see images. Wow, it's great. All over Turkey new mosques are put up in the old styles, so this is really a big step. Zeynep Fadillioglu is the architect.

Hi,
I have to say that the wiggly writing is both intriguing, and ancient. I really do hope that she is not the FIRST female to design, perhaps in our age, but I bet back in Spain it might be a little different.
Happy belated B-Day, and your new projects are amazing. Great job amiga.... :)
As you can see, I'm a bit of a Western Girl. Love the desert. Into animals. Big hair, small clothes. I go to the gym religiously. Artist, feminist, teacher, mama.
From August 2006 to July 2007 I lived and worked in Turkey. So check the archives if you want to know what it's like there.
Now I'm back in the fastlane in SoCal. Sending you all kisses...

The Arabic verses on the chandelier are made of silver, and yes, I agree, very beautiful.
Thanks for the comment, I hope you are well.
